HUMAN AFTER ALL – SEOUL
For its latest exhibition in Seoul, GALERIE PHILIA continues its exploration of contemporary design within powerful architectural and cultural contexts. Over the past decade, the gallery has presented exhibitions in iconic sites — from Le Corbusier’s Cité Radieuse to Oscar Niemeyer’s Museum of Contemporary Art in Niterói — affirming a curatorial vision in which design is always shaped by architecture, history, and philosophical themes.
Curated by Ygaël Attali, Human After All presents a new generation of Korean designers — Fict Studio, Hyungshin Hwang, Lee Sisan, Saerom Yoon, Studio Chacha, and Min Seon Kong — whose practices move beyond function toward sculptural presence, material experimentation, and a distinctly Korean sensibility within the global landscape of sculptural design.
Presented in collaboration with Maison Navie in a former bathhouse later transformed into a church, the exhibition unfolds within a raw concrete architecture filled with light and memory, where the works engage in dialogue with the building’s layered history.
Human After All marks the first chapter of a trilogy by Galerie Philia across Asia in 2026, exploring the evolving relationship between the human and the machine in contemporary design.
HUMAN AFTER ALL – SEOUL
서울에서 열리는 이번 전시에서 GALERIE PHILIA는 강렬한 건축적·문화적 맥락 속에서 동시대 디자인을 탐구해온 흐름을 이어간다. 지난 10여 년간 갤러리는 르 코르뷔지에의 Cité Radieuse부터 오스카 니마이어가 설계한 니테로이 현대미술관에 이르기까지 상징적인 장소에서 전시를 선보이며, 디자인이 건축, 역사, 그리고 철학적 주제에 의해 형성된다는 큐레이토리얼 비전을 지속적으로 구축해왔다.
Ygaël Attali가 기획한 Human After All 은 Fict Studio, 황형신, 이시산, 윤새롬, 스튜디오 차차, 공민선 등 한국의 차세대 디자이너들을 소개한다. 이들의 작업은 기능적 역할을 넘어 조형적 존재감, 재료에 대한 실험, 그리고 글로벌 조형 디자인의 흐름 속에서 드러나는 한국적 감각으로 확장된다.
이번 전시는 Maison Navie와의 협업으로, 과거 목욕탕이었다가 이후 교회로 전환된 공간에서 진행된다. 빛과 기억이 스며든 거친 콘크리트 건축 안에서 작품들은 건물이 지닌 다층적인 역사와 긴밀한 관계를 맺으며 전개된다.
Human After All은 2026년 GALERIE PHILIA가 아시아 전역에서 전개하는 3부작의 첫 번째 장으로, 동시대 디자인에서 인간과 기계의 관계가 어떻게 변화하고 있는지를 탐구한다.
