A PIECE OF ONE DAY
My earliest childhood memories trace back to the time I spent in the Philippines with my parents. Scenes of blue mountains, emerald seas, and small, beautiful islands remain vividly in my mind. Among them, I especially cherished the sunsets by the sea—sitting with my family by the beach, feeling the cool breeze after the intense heat of the day, watching the sky darken with endless colors.
This series reflects fragments of those childhood memories: the glow of an evening sky, the warmth of a summer day under shimmering leaves, and fleeting emotions felt in moments surrounded by nature.
I view nature not just as scenery, but as the space and time that envelop us. Through this work, I seek to share my experiences with others, offering a new visual encounter—one that steps beyond everyday perceptions. Through these intense sensory experiences, I hope the work lingers as new fragments of emotion, quietly becoming part of someone else’s memory.
어느날의 조각들
나의 가장 오래된 어린 시절의 기억은 부모님을 따라 필리핀에서 지냈던 시간들로 거슬러 올라간다. 푸른 산과 에메랄드빛 바다, 그리고 작고 예쁜 섬에서 놀던 기억들은 한 장면 한 장면씩 내 기억 속에 남아 있다. 그중에서도 나는 노을 지는 바닷가를 가장 좋아했다. 무더웠던 한낮의 해가 지고 선선해진 바람을 느끼며 가족들과 함께 바닷가에 앉아 어두워질 때까지 노을을 바라보던 기억은 나의 가장 소중한 기억이다.
이 연작은 나의 어린 시절의 추억과 기억의 조각들, 혹은 저녁노을이 유난히 아름다웠던 어느 날 저녁 하늘을 바라보며 느꼈던 여러 감정들의 조각들, 그리고 무더운 여름날 나무 그늘 아래에서 올려다보았던 햇빛과 반짝이는 나뭇잎을 바라보았던 기억의 조각들로 이루어져 있다.
나는 자연을 우리를 감싸고 있는 공간이자 시간으로 바라보며, 그에 대한 경험을 이 작업을 통해 공유하고자 한다. 일상생활에서 쉽게 경험하지 못하는 새로운 시각적 자극을 통해 나의 경험을 전하고, 이 경험이 누군가에게 새로운 감정의 조각들로 남기를 바란다.
